Eyelid lift surgery, technically known as “blepharoplasty,” is an extremely effective procedure that restores a more youthful and rested appearance to the eyes. As we age, the delicate skin of the upper and lower eyelids becomes stretched and thin, which often leads to sagging and a tired appearance. Loose tissue around the eyes can obscure the eyelids and eyelashes, making it difficult to apply makeup, and drooping upper eyelids can even impair vision. Thousands of eyelid lift procedures are performed every year, and the recipients enjoy a more refreshed appearance.
Blepharoplasty corrects the following conditions of the upper and/or lower eyelids:
- Sagging tissues
- Loose skin
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Puffiness
- Bags under the eyes
UPPER EYELID LIFT
The upper eyelid lift utilizes an incision along the natural crease of the upper eyelid so that it will be inconspicuously concealed after the procedure. Once the incision is made, excess skin and tissue are removed. Upper eyelid surgery takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes to complete.
LOWER EYELID LIFT
Lower eyelid surgery may be performed by removing excess skin through an incision just below the lower eyelashes. The transconjunctival technique involves removing excess fat through an internal incision in the lower eyelid. Although it may sound startling, the transconjunctival incision is one of the safest methods for performing lower eyelid lift surgery.
UPPER & LOWER EYELID LIFT COMBINED
Combining the upper and lower eyelid procedures into one surgery is extremely beneficial and performed quite often. Patients with sagging upper and lower eyelids can save time and money by undergoing both procedures at once, which allows for only one recovery.
RESULTS
Eyelid procedures are quick, safe, and effective, and the dramatic improvements are immediately apparent. Patients often receive comments on their “well-rested,” “refreshed,” and “pleasant” appearance after recovery.
COMMONLY COMBINED PROCEDURES
A surgery performed without considering all of the facial features together may produce an unnatural and imbalanced look. Some patients may benefit from undergoing a brow lift or facelift with their eyelid surgery, and Dr. Barlow understands how to balance each patient’s unique facial features to achieve a harmonious look. During your consultation, Dr. Barlow will evaluate your individual circumstances to determine the ideal procedure(s) to meet your needs and aesthetic goals.
